This guide is intended for students who are using the library online to help guide the experience and make the library website easier to understand and use!

Computer Use Policies

IOT Library Computer Use Policy

  1. You must be either a currently enrolled IOT student or alumni to use the computer workstations.
  2. No personal software can be installed.
  3. Preference will be given to students who use the computers for course assignments; students engaging in non-academic activities may be asked to give up their seat when students are waiting to use computers for academic assignments.
  4. Viewing offensive or pornographic materials is prohibited.
  5. Anyone found violating these policies will be asked to leave, and repeat violators may lose their privilege to use library computers. Students who damage equipment may face disciplinary, civil, or criminal action.
  6. If you have any questions or concerns, or need to report a violation, please talk to a librarian at the Research Help Desk or to staff at the Circulation Desk.

IOT Computer Use Policies

Saving Documents

  • Save your work frequently to prevent losing data in the event of a power outage or computer malfunction
  • Do not save documents on the computer hard drive. Files are wiped out after computer restarts
  • Save your work on a USB flash drive or student network drive "S" (For student computer only)

Wi-Fi Access

  • IOT and the Library provide wireless access to students, faculty, and staff. This service provides wireless data network access for mobile computing devices such as laptops and smartphones 
  • For wireless setup assistance, speak to the Library Staff  available in the library

LRC Student Desktop Login

  • Username = library
  • Password = student

Wi-Fi Login

  • Connect to IOT-Wireless
  • Password=IloveIOT

 

Printing and Copying in the Library

Printing

  • To print, send documents to the K-8 Printer DC 2  (located in LRC K-8 inside the Kitchen Building) or Library Copier A-25 DC2 (located in A-25 in the Main Building). PS ending printers will send a printer error message.
  • Printers are black and white only


Wireless Printing

  • Is not available.

Copying

  • Copier is located in the LRC A-25
  • For help using the copy machines, ask for help at the Circulation or Reference desks
  • Copying is free if school related. Copies scan in automatic color but printing is gray scale only.
  • Stapling is located on the Finishing Tab.
  • Duplex, Double-Side, Bothsided printing is the default setting
  • Faxing is not available

Library Hardware and Software

Express Workstations (1st and 2nd floor)

  • There are 16 express workstations available for use
  • The computers are restricted to quick use purposes  

South Gate Library Open Lab Workstations

  • There are 20 Windows workstations available for use, and one (1) community computer for non-students

Audio/Speakers

  • All library computers are set on mute
  • You may use personal headphones at a low volume (so as not to disturb others) if needed

Document Scanner (located in the LRC A-25 in the Main Building must have USB Flash drive)

  • One document scanner is available for faculty, staff, and students
  • There is a 30 minutes time limit on the use of the scanner, unless there is no other patron waiting in line
  • Library patrons can easily scan newspapers, magazines, documents or books directly without cutting or damaging them

Multi-Device Charging Charging Strips

  • There are charging power strips available located under the computes in the LRCs
  • Library patrons can charge their portable devices anytime during our hours of operation

  • There are 17 student computers available for use.
  • Reserved for instructional use.

Culinary Library LRC K-8

  • There are 8 student computers available for use.
  • Reserved for instructional use.
